HelpmApp is a mission-driven platform designed to connect people in need across the UK with critical support services. We believe that access to information is a fundamental right.

How It Works

HelpmApp aggregates real-time data from local councils, charities, and community service providers. Our platform verifies this information and presents it in an accessible, offline-first format.

Key Features

Mobile Discovery

  • Semantic Omnibar: We've combined search and filters into a single, intuitive "Omnibar" at the top of the map. No more hunting for buttons—just tap and type.
  • Instant "Open Now" Toggle: Need help immediately? Tap the clock icon in the search bar to instantly hide any services that are currently closed.
  • Offline Access: Our PWA (Progressive Web App) technology ensures your data stays with you. Once you've visited HelpmApp, essential service data remains available even if you lose your internet connection.

New: Full-Screen Mapping

HelpmApp Phase 74 introduces a more immersive mapping experience:

Full-Screen Map

  • Maximized Viewport: The map now dynamically fills your entire screen, providing more context and easier navigation.
  • Precision Location: We've replaced the static user marker with a pulsing blue dot, helping you orient yourself instantly.
  • Native Gestures: Navigation is now focused on the bottom dock, providing a cleaner, more tactile feel.
  • Pull-to-Refresh: At the top of any list (Nearby, Search, Favorites), swipe down to refresh the service data instantly.
  • Tactile Haptics: Experience subtle vibration "ticks" when triggering gestures or completing actions.

Using the Platform

  1. Allow Location Access: When prompted, allow HelpmApp to access your location. This enables the map to prioritize services closest to you, shown as a pulsing blue dot.
  2. The Omnibar: Tap the search bar to find specific services by name, or tap the category pills to browse by service type (Food, Healthcare, Shelter, etc.).
  3. Sticky Context: As you scroll through the list of services, a sticky bar at the top keeps you informed of how many services match your current filters.
  4. View Details: Tap on any service card or map pin to see full details, including a direct "Call" button and navigation links.

Regional Coverage (New)

HelpmApp is expanding rapidly. As of February 2026, we provide validated service data for 3,527+ services across:

  • Greater London (All 32 Boroughs + City)
  • Greater South East (Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire)
  • South West (Bristol, Cornwall, Devon)
  • West Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton)
  • East Midlands (Nottingham, Leicester)
  • North East (Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham)
  • North West (Manchester, Liverpool, Preston)

We use AI to ensure all service descriptions are standardized, objective, and easy to read.
